I love to experience new cultures! When I do, I am always sure to do my research so that I am entering the country with the respect that its people deserve. When we decided to travel to Morocco for the first time, we spent hours researching, and I am making this list now so you don’t have to! Below are my top 3 necessities, with links to each!

1. Closed Toed Shoes
Closed toed shoes are important for a few reasons. First and foremost: respect. In the Muslim culture, it is important to keep as much of your body covered as possible. Secondly, you will be walking through a lot of dirt and this will help keep your feet cleaner than sandals, and cooler than sneakers. I suggest these packable shoes from Amazon!
2. Cover your shoulders, and no cleavage!
Again, modesty is extremely important in the Muslim culture, so be mindful when choosing your clothing. Technically, there are no laws in Morocco about how you have to dress, but again, it is important to try to be appropriate out of respect for the culture. I wore a sweater and a scarf, but I suggest at least a loose blouse so that when you get hot (you will) it is still a respectful and appropriate outfit without the sweater. Something like this works well and is pretty breezy too!
3. Long Pants
Long pants are necessary in order to maintain modesty and because, as I mentioned above, you will be walking through a lot of sand and dirt, so the pants will help keep your legs protected from the elements. I chose a very affordable pair of harem pants to wear that were breezy and cute!
Overall, the most important thing to remember when traveling to any Muslim country is to be respectful and cover as much skin as possible. Whenever going to a country that is primarily desert, remember a scarf! No matter where you travel, I always recommend closed toed shoes.
Howdy! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Cheers
